On this last day of August, the month of apocalyptic cinematic treasures on the Dread Media podcast comes to end. And what would any good month-long marathon be without at least one movie from the great John Saxon. His films may not always be the best and he may never win any thespian awards but his flicks are always enjoyable. They are made that much better with his unique style on screen. This week, I take a look back at the Gene Roddenberry TV series pilot-disguised-as-a-movie Planet Earth (1974). It was Roddenberry’s second attempt at the concept and first of two starring John Saxon. It’s also my personal favorite. So take a listen to episode 418 and tell Desmond that the Monster Movie Kid sent you!
