Countdown to Halloween Begins Tuesday

3

Every year since Monster Movie Kid launched in 2012, I’ve counted down to Halloween, the greatest time of the year! So, it should come as no surprise that 2019 will be no different! And, as last year, reviews will be posted on both Monster Movie Kid and Kansas City Cinephile!

This year, my wife Karla and I will be taking at the look at the films of Vincent Price. Now, in the last seven years, I’ve already reviewed quite a few films from the master of the macabre but there are still plenty tales of horrific goodness to explore. However, since there’s not quite 31 days of horror films with Mr. Price left for me to review, we’ll start the month off with a few other Price flicks to give you a taste of what’s to come. But fear not, things will get quite creepy by the end of the first week.

As I did last year, I’ll also be appearing on three different podcasts during the month. So be sure to look out for several reviews on Dread Media, an edition of the Kansas City Crypt on the Mihmiverse Monthly Audiocast and episode 36 of the Classic Horrors Club podcast will find Jeff and I exploring three classic horror anthologies, including one with, of course, Vincent Price!

Once again this year, I’ll be an official Cryptkeeper over at the Countdown to Halloween website. Be sure to check it out for the list of other participating sites (coming soon), including my good friend Jeff Owens over at the Classic Horrors Club!

So buckle in and let’s get ready to celebrate Halloween 2019!

Dread Media – The Banana Splits Movie (2019)

0

This week on episode 630 of the Dread Media Podcast, it’s a classic case of curiosity killing the cat. I had fond memories of watching The Banana Splits when I was a kid but can they really be brought into the 21st century and turned into a horror franchise? Tune in for my thoughts but be warned, childhoods are in jeopardy of being ruined!

As always, tell ’em Monster Movie Kid sent ya!

Classic Horrors Club – Back to School

0

You’d probably rather be sitting in school than watching the three movies we picked this month for episode 35 of the Classic Horrors Club Podcast! Memory serves these better than they deserve: Unman, Wittering & Zigo (1971), Nothing but the Night (1973), and Satan’s School for Girls (1973). What can we say… it was the 70s?

Our choices don’t prevent us from having another great meeting, though, so take your seats and we’ll call it to order!

Mihmiverse – Seven Footprints to Satan (1929)

2

This month on episode 59 of the Mihmiverse Monthly Audiocast, the Kansas City Crypt opens up for a look at the last of the silent horror films…Seven Footprints to Satan (1929). The director of Haxan (1922) and Thelma Todd unite for an interesting flick full of controversial images and a twist ending that’s well worth checking out!

Be sure to check out the online home of the films of Christopher R. Mihm for all of the great merchandise and information on how you can help make future films happen! Chris is hard at work on not one but two new chapters in the Mihmiverse story as The Phantom Lake Kids in The Beast Walks Among Us and That Which Lurks in the Dark are on the horizon for 2020. Check out the website to learn how you can contribute today!
