Dread Media – Leptirica (1973)

0

It has been far too long since I’ve appeared on an episode of the Dread Media podcast. So, for my return and first appearance in 2022, host Desmond Reddick and I finally sit down to review a movie together in episode 755. As part of Folk Horror February, Des and I take a look at Leptirica, a 1973 Serbian film that is indeed quite unique.

After years of obscurity, the film is now being discovered by a new generation courtesy of Severin Films. It’s available as part of the All the Haunts Be Ours: A Compendium of Folk Horror Blu-ray box set, as well as currently being on the Shudder streaming service.

Tune into and be sure to tell ’em the Monster Movie Kid sent ya!

OTR – Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of Mrs. Warren’s Lodger (1941)

0

This week on The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, we journey back to a very infamous date…December 7, 1941. Yes, on the very day that Pearl Harbor was attacked and the lives of everyone in the entire world would be changed forever, Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce starred as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the Mystery of Mrs. Warren’s Lodger. You’ll even hear a brief announcement that President Franklin Roosevelt would be addressing the nation the following day.

Special note: The quality of this episode is a little rough at times but still enjoyable. You just might need to focus a little harder to understand what everyone is saying.

You can find this episode on the Sherlock Holmes playlist, as well as all of the other great old time radio shows on my YouTube channel!
